White Paper on Environment
As the next step following the White House Conference on Travel and Tourism, the Western State 's Tourism Policy Council convened the Western Summit on Tourism and Public Lands in September of 1996.  Egret Communications authored the White Paper on the Environment, one of only five white papers presented at the conference, and the basis for discussions on tourism and the environment.  The Summit led to a Memo of Understanding among the Western States Tourism Policy Council, United States Department of Agriculture, United States Department of Defense, United States Department of the Interior, United States Department of Transportation, and United States Environmental Protection Agency to coordinate and support the implementation of the National Tourism Strategy and the recommendations of the Western Summit . The Memorandum of Understanding among the partners focuses on using environmentally sensitive approaches to the development of tourism.
