Oxbow Meadows Treetop Trail
Students and Faculty

The planning process led by Egret Communications for Oxbow Meadows canopy trail design, construction, and use has involved Columbus State University faculty and students, local arborists and groups interested in trees and conservation, and MeadWestvaco.

Students are currently working to establish a tree and plant identification grid for interpretation and research purposes.  One class removed some invasive species in the corridor under the trail path.
Students and faculty will use the trail and other (future) canopy access infrastructure to compare ecosystem development in the Oxbow area with other less impacted areas.  That research will help interpretation - and may have some implications for managing areas with human impact.
Columbus State University students and faculty have visited canopy access sites outside the United States on past academic travel and will continue to visit the canopy on future academic trips.
