Oregon –
White Paper
on Sustainable Tourism
The Oregon tourism experience is primarily based on sharing natural and cultural experiences among pristine resources, rural communities, and unique agricultural settings.  The people and tourism industry of Oregon highly value culture and resources, and intend to have tourism develop in a way that does not damage either natural settings or change community character.  This project, conducted with the Oregon Tourism Commission in 2001, served to educate the industry and communities on the benefits of sustainable tourism, and to design the transition to sustainability by the Oregon tourism industry.
