Monarch Butterfly Conservation |
| Egret
worked with Monarca, Mexico; the Xerces Society,
US; Mexicana Airlines, and the government of Mexico on a project
to promote visitation to the monarch reserves and to use natural
resource education and travel to aid in the protection of
wintering sites for monarch butterflies.
A number of communications tools were generated,
including: 1) In
Honor of The Monarch Butterfly, a
4 projector multi-image production and videotape on the life
cycles and migration cycles of the monarch butterfly; 2) Melody’s
Mystery - El Misterio de Melodía,
a bilingual children’s book on life and migration cycles of
the monarch butterfly combining an engaging story line, many
color photographs, accurate science, and a conservation
conclusion. The
book received the “Outstanding Science Book for Children” award
from the Children’s Book Council and the National Science
Teachers Association in 1991; 3) Educational
Materials.
